After the success of this first project the fair expanded under the name of Art Bahrain Across Borders (Artbab) with Tamkeen as the strategic partner. Tamkeen is a public authority established in August 2006, tasked with supporting Bahrain’s private sector and positioning it as the key driver of economic growth and development. Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 has been established to lay the foundations of new economic opportunities with the guiding principles of sustainability, competitiveness, and innovation. Artbab was Bahrain’s foremost international art fair with the mission of attracting leading international galleries to the Kingdom, thus empowering the expansion of the art market while facilitating the development of local Bahraini artists. The fair ran consecutively for four editions with the last fair taking place in March 2019.
