Jamdani, is of persian origin and comes from the word “Jam” meaning flower and “Dani” meaning vase. The name is suggestive of the beautiful floral motifs on the fabrics.

The base fabric for Jamdani is unbleached coton yarn and the design is woven using bleached cotton yarns so that a light-and-dark effect is created. The process is extremely time consuming as it involves a tedious form of hand looming.

It is one of the most time and labor-intensive forms of hand loom weaving and is considered one of the finest varieties of muslin, and the most artistic textile of Bangladeshi weavers. Traditionally woven around Dhaka and create on the loom brocade, Jamdani is rich in motifs.

We at Tarakeeb are looking global fashion and textiles by developing new designs using old age techniques.
